cVIGIL App: Election Commissioner OP Rawat said that through the c-VIGIL app, voters can report violations of the election code of conduct. The app is available to all Android users and requires camera and GPS access on the smartphone.
What is C-VIGIL App?
Election Commission launched cVIGIL App C-Vigil is an Android and iPhone application, which is used to report violations of the Code of Conduct from the date of notification. The Election Commission has prepared this app to prevent malpractices in elections. With the help of this app, people can report code of conduct violations in election states.
Election Commission launched cVIGIL App This app is designed for all Android and iOS users. For last 3 years this app is used in all types of elections including Lok Sabha and Assembly. Android users can download it from Play Store and iPhone users can download it from Apple Store.
How can cVIGIL be used?
Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat said that a photo or video of up to 2 minutes can be uploaded on the app to provide information about violation of the code of conduct. As soon as the photo or video is uploaded, the location of that place will also be known.
He said that ‘After uploading, the user will get a unique ID, through which they can track the follow-up on the mobile itself.’ He said that the identity of the complaining user will be kept confidential.
OP Rawat said that the app will not allow uploading of pre-recorded videos or photos to prevent misuse of the app.
Apart from this, videos or photos recorded by cVIGIL app will not be saved in the phone’s gallery.
Solution will be done in just 100 minutes through cVIGIL app
Election Commission launched cVIGIL App Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena said that this app was used during the Karnataka assembly elections held in May and now it will be used in the upcoming elections as well.
He said that whatever video or photo is sent by the complainant, it will be sent to the local election officer within 5 minutes. If his complaint is true then the problem will be solved within 100 minutes.

Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat said that the use of this app can be started as soon as the code of conduct is implemented in the state where the election is to be held. From the announcement of election dates to the end of polling, anyone can send their complaint to the Election Commission through the cVIGIL app.
