The scheme was launched in 2014

Documents required for opening a Jan Dhan account
You can also submit documents fulfilling your Know Your Customer (KYC) requirement including Aadhaar card, passport, driving license to open a Jan Dhan account. If you do not have the documents, you can open a small account. In this, you will have to submit a self-certified photograph and your signature in front of the bank officer. You do not have to pay any fee or charge to open a Jan Dhan account. Anyone 10 years of age or older can open this account.
